Laptop Charger Gateway
My Gateway laptop’s charger is loose and will only charge some of the time. Does anyone know of a fix?
Original gateway charger fried, using second replacement charger. It will charge my other gateway laptop with same size connection fine. Tends to fall out of plug in back of computer and even when plugged in will not always charge.
NOT GOOD!
The port, or opening in your laptop where the AC adapter goes, (Also called a ‘Charger’), is the DC Power Jack.
Your AC adapter converts your household AC electricity into DC electricity. (Flashlight batteries, and your laptop battery are examples of DC power)
The pin in the middle of the DC Power Jack is the Positive (+)
The outside round metal shell is the Negative ( – )
IF, there is a loose connection, Resistance is developed. Resistance causes Heat. Heat cause FIRE!
Sure, you could get a small piece of paper, and maybe insert it and the AC adapter plug into the DC Power Jack, at the same time. Would keep the AC adapter plug wedged over to one side, and make a tight fit. HOPEFULLY, it would force the center socket hole, of the AC adapter plug over to one side also, and make a good contact with the DC Power Jack’s middle pin.
BUT, this is a VERY BAD idea! You don’t know if everything will be tight, and STAY tight!
IF NOT, resistance, heat, FIRE!
Now let’s say you leave the AC adapter plugged in overnight.
WILL you sleep good, knowing a possible Fire could occur while you’re sleeping?
Solution? GET the right plug installed, on the end of the AC adapter by a computer shop, (IF they will do this. Responsibility of possibly having a part they altered, and have it mess up, would,
A.Possibly have a heavy fine levied against them.
B.Possibly lose their business license
C.Possibly go to jail/prison, if a fire breaks out from their alteration, and/or a death, or deaths occur,
OR all of the above)
Your DC Power Jack may be bad from the last ‘charger’ going out. IT may have gone bad, because of a loose connection.
Solution?
Time to take this thing to the pro’s to check out, before something BAD may occur.
